Ladder To The Future

“These things I have spoken to you, so that in Me you may have peace.  In the world you have tribulation, but take courage; I have overcome the world.”  John 16:33

God Calling, by A.J. Russell, July 15th entry:  “Its supports may be out of your sight, hidden in the secret Place of the Most High, but if I have asked you to step on and up firmly–then surely have I secured your ladder.”

Are you afraid to go forward?  Do you lack courage, strength, and trusting faith to take the next step?  If so, take a moment to reflect on where you have been, and then reflect a moment on to where you have come.  This is not to dwell or wallow in past mistakes, or wrong decisions.  It is simply to realize that whatever has befallen you, you are now here at this spot, at this moment in time.  You have made it through all that was, and you are living in all that is.  Is it a perfect existence?  Maybe not.  Maybe for some it is a living hell.  Even so, do not discount that you are here, in spite of it.

Regardless of your present circumstances, now take a moment to look forward.  Knowing where you have been, and knowing what is at this moment, does the future still frighten you?  If it does, remember that God has brought you to this very moment.  He could have said enough is enough and snuffed you out at any moment of the past, but He didn’t.

God chose to keep you here.  Why?  Because He loves you enough to make you whole.  He loves you enough to send you sufferings and tribulations that bring you to Him, sometimes on your knees begging.  He loves you enough to send His Only Begotten Son, Jesus, to point the Way; for He knows without Jesus you cannot enter into Life Everlasting.

We all have to climb the ladder of life to get to Life Everlasting.  Looking back we see the rungs we have already climbed.  Looking forward we can only see our goal, God The Father.  Mercifully He spares us prior knowledge of the future rungs necessary to lead us to Him.  Mercifully He gives us Jesus to lead the Way.

You are here at this point in time.  God is your goal, and the reward is Life Everlasting.  Jesus is The Ladder, The Way.  Step up on that next rung of life unafraid.  Step up on that next rung even if fearful, for He secures your ladder.
